Governor's Scholars Program

Students interested in applying to participate in the Governor's Scholars Program may now download the electronic application from the GSP website at http://gsp.ky.gov.

GSP provides students a rare opportunity to live on a college campus and work with a select group of supportive high school and college teachers in classes, seminars and co-curricular activities. Well-known speakers and performers as well as films, field trips, special events, and a wide range of recreational opportunities offer an array of stimulating activities that provide fun and enjoyment while Scholars learn. Students selected for the Governor's Scholars Program are also eligible for a variety of very generous college scholarship opportunities across the state.

To be eligible for nomination and selection, a student must:

  • Be in the 11th grade at a Kentucky public or private school at the time of selection and intend to return to a Kentucky school district for the next school term (Students skipping their senior year to enter college are not eligible);
  • Be a current resident of Kentucky;
  • Have taken the ACT, PSAT, or SAT in the 9th, 10th or 11th grades.

Students must complete an application and be nominated by their school districts to be considered for admission.

Governor's School for the Arts

Students interested in applying to participate in the Governor's School for the Arts may visit the GSA website at http://www.kentuckygsa.org/ for the most up to date information.

Every summer for the past thirty years, GSA and their faculty of professional artist/educators have guided over two hundred of Kentucky's finest young artists through three weeks of incredibly intense (and incredibly fun) arts instruction on a college campus.

GSA auditions promising high school sophomores and juniors in nine different arts disciplines: Architecture, Creative Writing, Dance, Drama, Instrumental Music, Musical Theatre, New Media, Visual Art and Vocal Music. For three solid weeks, the students live, breathe, eat and sleep the arts. It's a thrilling, often life-changing experience, as they meet new friends, explore their creativity, and discover new things about who they are and who they can be in the future.

The deadline for application has not yet been announced, but will be updated as soon as it is available.  Please note that applicants are encouraged to apply before the deadline, because the staff will be unavailable to answer questions after that date.  Contact Kaitlyn Miller at kaitlyn.miller@kenton.kyschools.us or 859-426-4904 for more information. She will be glad to meet with students to discuss the program.
