The Scott, LaVerne, & Elmira Scott Scholarship Fund was established by Robert Scott in 1994. Mr. Scott was born in 1913. He lived all his life on Villa Hills, Kentucky, with the exception of the time he spent attending the University of Kentucky, where he earned a degree in agricultural sciences in 1934. Mr. Scott maintained a lifelong love of learning and believed in the value of education. Scott High School in Taylor Mill is named in his honor. Mr. Scott had to work his way through college and recognized the value of a college education as well as the sacrifices that many have to make in order to obtain an education. He also noted that there were never enough scholarship awards to go to all students who deserved them so he set up scholarship funds to provide financial assistance to students who sought a college education. Recognizing that not everyone can be in the top 5-10% of their class, he specifically wanted to help students who were solid performers and who might not otherwise have the resources to attend college.
